"Babe, are you free tonight? I rasa mcm nak ajak u makan doughnut lah.." - Liz
"Alamak malam2 susah la I nak keluar. But how about today after asar?" - Me
"OK jugak tu.. u come and pick me up ok! We go to Big Apple eh?" - Liz
"K, laters!" - Me
Well, that kinda sum up the sms session recently between me and Liz, my old housemate in Ara Damansara, back when I was working in Subang Airport, and back when we were both single and available, hehe. Reminiscing back, we shared a lot of ups and downs... We had bad ex bfs at the same period of time, and we decided to end our frustrating relationships at the same time. And we also started dating our new bfs (our hubbies now) at the same time! So we pretty much could share a lot of our thoughts and feelings together.
Finally, both of us decided that it was time for us to end our singlehood and moved out. She married Roy in Nov 2007 and I myself tied the knot with Yusoff in March 2008. It was a sad depart but we are still keeping in touch of course! We still talk to each other on MSN messenger where we share stories about our marriages. And of course lately, we have been talking a lot about our pregnancy! See! we even got pregnant at the same time! But she was ahead of me for about 8 weeks. U know, it's very soothing to be able to share our worries and pains and not to forget, excitement together. First time mommies lah katekan (: mcm2 hal ok!
Anyways, let's pick up after the sms session I was telling about earlier. So then I had my prayers, changed my clothes and went to pick her up at her apartment. We went to Crimson, a new hang out place, not bad... An alternative for PJ/Shah Alam/Subang residents if you dont wanna go to as far as The Curve or OU. You guys should check it out, bole tahan laaa...
At 39 weeks, Liz still looked lovely (of course with the extra pounds) but look at me! I think I was bigger and I was only carrying my 32-weeks-old sugarpie. But we were pretty confident walking around the place with our bellies protruding. Tak hal ah (bak kate natt)!
We went straight to Big Apple and placed our order. Liz went to the counter first and asked for 6 doughnuts! (get 1 free). And I thought to myself, wow! She's really hungry! :p
So we tried to catch up as much as we could. We talked, and laughed, and started sharing the "urban legends" inside the labor room! Scaryyyy but it was fun! We laughed so hard! Time flew and it was soon dusk. I did not manage to finish even 1 piece of doughnut cause I had late lunch. Liz on the other hand ate 4 big doughnuts, but u know what, it's alright. She was eating for 2. Besides, she better eat all she wanted because during confinement, u know how u gotta starve urself and eat the most tak sedap choices of food in the whole wide world! Besides, she wasn't gaining that much weight pon (and I envy her for that).
So we had to bid our goodbyes, I gotta get home and prepare dinner b4 Yusoff came back from work. I wished her well, I wished her the best of luck because her baby might be popping out just about anytime! We hugged and I left.
Next day came -13th Nov 2008. It was a pretty normal day for me. I was just home. Watched some tv, cleaned the place a bit... (I clean my house every single day during pregnancy). I cant stand the sight of the smallest dust even! My sister said the biological term for this syndrome is called "nesting". Like some animals (e.g. bird) preggers clean their shelter a lot in preparation for the arrival of the baby! Funny eh? But true.
The whole day however I had a different feeling. I didnt know what it was and decided to ignore it. Night time came and I was watching tv with Yusoff in the living room. My eyes were not sleepy at all. It was 11 plus pm, and Yusoff was next to me, very quiet.

"Dah tido ke?" - Me
"Belum, I teman u tgk tv la" - Yusoff
"Apsal mata tutup?" - Me
"Mata letih, tp tak tido pon" - Yusoff
OK that's it. That phrase (mata letih) is usually the cue for me to drag him to bed. It means "I want to sleep now, pls turn off the tv!" in the softest gesture ever la kan.
I was trying so hard to fall asleep but to no avail. Yusoff? dah selamat belayar to Nevernever land dah tu! I didnt know why but I had this strange feeling that I couldnt escape. At 12am, a sms came in. Lazily, I reached for the phone on my sidetable.
OMG! I was so shocked to get the sms from Liz! She told me she had safely delivered her son, praise to Allah! I was just spending the afternoon with her yesterday! No signs of her getting into labor the next day pun! Oh wow! Now that explains why she was eating so much! I guess her baby was giving her a signal to eat all she could before he popped out! I was so excited but I knew it wasn't appropriate for me to call her in the middle of the night. I was very happy for her, I wish I could tell her that I was really sharing her joy! I was glad that everything turned out well. She gave birth (normal vaginal birth) to a very healthy baby boy weighing 3.45 kg. Well done Liz, you are now the proud mummy to a very cute lil munchkin! You did it!

Despite her fatigue, Liz still managed to reply my sms-es and told me to take care of myself. Now that she's settled, she said she can't wait for my turn. She told me to pray hard and be good cos she cant wait to see her son's future friend, my little sugarpie. And yeap that's what I am doing right now babe. I am really hoping that me & sugarpie will be fine, healthy and safe when the time comes. Readers, friends... Please pray for me and my baby! thank u :)
